All this talk about AGI…

Lately I’ve been hearing everyday about how close we are to AGI, but as I understand it, AGI is not just a super powerful LLM, right?
We need a real technological breakthrough to achieve AGI, and maybe that breakthrough will come from scientists helped by LLMs, but maybe not, right?

So, are we closer to AGI? yes and no.

Yes, we have more chances to achieve it if LLMs can help scientists.

But no, we are not closer, unless we think we are closer just because we are advancing technology in general. In which case, we are closer to just about anything.
